FUN FOODS for the young in the Easter holidays

Adding preserves for the young

Easter is nearly upon us and with it all the fare of

Hot cross buns and Simnel cake and Roast Lamb and not to mention Easter Eggs

Beyond these traditional Easter foods there are a whole range of favourite fun foods and platters – with or without preserves -that children can not only enjoy in the holidays and but also have the time to turn their hands to preparing.

With a little planning – sliced tomatoes and cheese – and a little cooking ahead – cocktail sausages, hardboiled eggs, mini sausage rolls – and delving into the preserves cupboard to find some dried apple rings and other dried fruit, youngsters can choose and assemble their own Supper Assortment (see above)

Or a Fruit Face

For both these plates there can be a choice of  fruits or vegetables although a slice of kiwi fruit with a dried raisin for the eyes is essential.

However my all time favourite as a child was to have a blob of jam in a pudding bowl covered by Rice pudding. Then a careful stir to find the jam peeping out. I would not have had it any other way.
