ESSENTIAL RESOLUTIONS FOR YOUR 2015 PRESERVES LARDER

And to kick start your year, why not attend a marmalade making class

A very Happy New Year to you all

and with those wishes come some essential new year resolutions for a super 2015 preserves larder

              PRESERVE MORE

whether it be jams or marmalades, dried fruits or herbs, flavoured oils or vinegars, mincemeats or jellies, pickles or curds, chutneys or sauces there is a huge choice to make and enjoy

OVERHAUL AND  HAVE YOUR EQUIPMENT READY

winter is the best time to sort out and clean up your pans and funnels and ladles. Check out the muslin bags and remove the pesky old labels from last years empty jars for re-use

PLAN AHEAD

SO THAT YOU HAVE THE PRESERVES READY FOR THE RIGHT MOMENT

 and remember that while you can tuck into jam as soon as it is made, that chutneys and pickles are better with time so make these well ahead

Redcurrant or Mint jelly or sauce ready to serve with your lamb at Easter

Tomato  sauce for the summer party and BBQ

Chutneys to serve with curries particularly in the winter

Chutneys for summer spreads

Have number of favourite  and unusual preserves  to offer as a gift at Christmas or other occasions or just  to cheer some one up on  a visit.

Dried herbs are always in use so ensure  there are plenty to see you through the winter cooking

Mincemeat, cranberry sauce or relish to serve with the traditional Christmas turkey and pies,

JOIN A CLASS

And for the faint hearted in making preserves and or if  you have  never seen it underway in the kitchen there are a couple of well set up classes to help
